WW2 American Aircraft covers perhaps the greatest array of aircraft in a particular group. The aircraft that the US produced were not only for itself but for the rest of the Allies as well. (Assuming the Allies wanted them the British turned down several aircraft they considered unsuitable) Some as I mentioned earlier were produced soley for their Allies, the Boston Maryland being one. America produced an atonishing number of WW2 American Aircraft during the war, developing replacements for obsolete aircraft, only to find the replacements were in fact worse than the aircraft they were supposed to replace. The modeler has an incredibly wide choice of subjects in this catagorie as you consider that there were a number of models for a given airframe, take the P51 Mustang, it went through the A36 Apache (A dedicated dive bomber) then through P51A B, C, D,F (A light weight version) there are some I probably have missed but you get the idea! So given the amount of WW2 American Aircraft the modeler is left with the choice of what scale!
